It's pretty easy to tell who to root for, in movies and shows. It's the virtue-filled hero who does every good thing for all the right reasons.

For many of us, a pretty standard movie-going experience does not entail witnessing the mediums of the more audacious and complicated art. There is a lot on the line for French New Wave, Ingmar Bergman, as well as the avant-garde work of contemporary filmmakers like Lars von Trier & Lynne Ramsay.
