R.I.P. Jeans Guy From 'The Mandalorian'

This contains SPOILERS for Chapters 12 and 13 of The Mandalorian.

After successfully wringing every last drop of enjoyment from Game of Thrones' coffee cup screw-up, last week fans of premium television cock-ups were thrilled to notice one shot of The Mandalorian inexplicably featured a dude in jeans and a t-shirt chilling out behind the titular bounty hunter like the casual Friday version of the sex demon from It Follows.

Of course, there are lots of possible in-universe explanations for this. Like maybe that old Imperial base was making a few credits on the side as an affordable Space Airbnb? Or perhaps an Earth human simply stumbled into the mystical "world between worlds" and ended up at that moment in time and space instead of the Taco Bell he was looking for? Lucasfilm could have published an entire novel about this guy like they used to with other random nobodies who appeared onscreen for a fleeting second. They could have at least mass-produced this fan-designed action figure:

But sadly, not unlike Alderaan, these possibilities have been destroyed. As was the case with the Westerosi latte, the character fans dubbed "Jeans Guy" was digitally removed from the episode. Which is kind of a bummer; Star Wars used to be full of dumb mistakes that were fun to point out. Even in the '90s, the theatrically-released Special Editions somehow left in a shot where Darth Vader's lightsaber is just a white broomstick.

There are loads more, but many have been "fixed" in subsequent home video releases. But now, with streaming, clearly, filmmakers can erase their goofs nearly instantaneously. And since there is no physical copy of The Mandalorian, presumably, there's no end to the number of tweaks its creators can make. Whether that means simply altering the visual effects or one day changing Baby Yoda's real name from "Grogu" to ... anything other than Grogu. Honestly, we would have been happier with Greg. Can someone go back and make it Greg, please?
