'My Cousin Vinny' Director Roasts 'Borat 2' Star Rudy Giuliani Over Press Conference Film Reference

Thursday's press conference with President Trump's legal team was particularly rough for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm star, Rudy Giuliani. Roasted for his rambling promotion of baseless voter fraud allegations and the sweaty streams of a mysterious brown substance (which may or may not be hair dye) pouring down his face ...

... the former New York City mayor made headlines for his mediocre reenactment of a scene from the beloved court-dramedy, My Cousin Vinny.  In discussing President Trump's baseless allegations that right-wing poll watchers weren't allowed close enough to accurately see the ballot counting process, Giuliani turned to a famous bit from the 1992 classic, where Joe Pesci's Vinny Gambini runs a rudimentary eye test to prove a witness couldn't have watched part of a crime due to poor vision. 

"Did you all watch My Cousin Vinny? It's one of my favorite law movies because he comes from Brooklyn. And when the nice lady said she saw, and then he says to her, 'How many fingers do I -- How many fingers do I got up?' And she says, 'three.'" he told the crowd, mocking Gambini's New York accent. "These people were farther away than My Cousin Vinny was from the witness."

Soon after, the film's director, Jonathan Lynn spoke out about the shoutout, absolutely roasting Giuliani in the process . "I regard Giuliani's praise of My Cousin Vinny as generous from the man who is currently giving the Comedy Performance of the Year," he told the Hollywood Reporter just hours after the fateful conference. Ouch. But Lynn's harsh words didn't stop there. "Vinny may have been argumentative and belligerent but he was good-hearted and honest. Rudy, not so much," he quipped to USA Today on Friday. 

Moral of the story? If you're going to reference one of your favorite films, maybe avoid doing so amid a nearly incoherent rant full of false claims of voter fraud at risk of getting burned by the director himself. Oh Rudy ...
