It was announced yesterday that It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is returning for a 15th season, which might not surprise fans of the series as Sunny is funnier than ever. This might have proved especially shrewd considering our current times because while many movies and shows will most likely struggle to address COVID 19 successfully, Always Sunny will knock it out of the park.

In fact, the gang has been here before. The seventh episode of season 9 is called "The Gang Gets Quarantined."

Creator of the series Rob McElhenney aka Mac, said about the episode, "I think there's a big flu going around Philadelphia or something like that. When we come back, don't worry, we will address all this in the way only Sunny can!"

So, Sunny is definitely going to tackle COVID-19, but in case you had any lingering doubts, Rob McElhenney already tackled the pandemic life in his AppleTV show, Mythic Quest. McElhenney is well aware of the potential of the episode feeling stale, saying, "We wanted to tell a story that was authentic to the experiences that people are going through right now. And also, we didn't want to do 30 minutes of Zoom jokes." He knows what he's up against, and what he's up against is a season of It's Always Sunny telling the same tired jokes about hoarding toilet paper. Hopefully, Sunny will find a spin that makes a 16th season inevitable.
